In addition to standard articles, MAI Review encourages the use of target articles to stimulate thought and discussion on a specific topic to do with building capability and capacity. These target articles may be an original paper which has not been published elsewhere; but they may also be invited papers that have already been published. Any re-publication is subject to receiving formal permission from the author and the publisher.
Standard and target articles should be no longer than 6000 words, including Title, Abstract, Main Text, Tables and References.
Open Peer Commentaries (Invited)
Each target article will be co-published with at least one open peer commentary. The purpose is to provide a constructive interaction between author, commentators and readers on a topic judged to be of broad significance to capability and capacity building. Invited Peer Commentators should offer substantive interpretation and criticism, and provide elaboration along with any supplementary or complementary material. Commentaries and articles should be free of hyperbole and remarks ad hominem
Open Peer commentaries should be limited to 1500 words, which is to include all text, figures and tables.

Short papers
Contributors are also encouraged to submit short articles to present new and stimulating ideas and directions of enquiry. Essay-type papers are appropriate. Short papers should be limited to 3000 words, which is to include all text, figures and tables.

Research notes
This category of article is appropriate for reporting and discussing ongoing or planned projects, with particular attention to matters relating to data, designs, methodology and other aspects of the research process that can be shared with readers and have potential for further discussion through MAI Korero. Technical notes
In the course of research activity, a wide range of technical and practical matters require close attention and often a high level of skill. We all learn from our colleagues, from our mentors, skilled teachers, peers and supporters. Contributions on technical and practical matters are welcomed for the workshop corner Te Kokonga.
